Keep unwanted sediments from the soil out of our water
Another initiative we're passionate about is our soil erosion program. We encourage the use of contour strip cropping. Contour strip cropping is the practice of planting a row crop, which is susceptible to erosion, alongside a less susceptible crop and farming it on the contour. By alternating these two crops, you can decrease the rate of soil erosion on farmland. This process helps keep sediment and soil out of our water and is an important practice in the rolling topography of Wabasha County, including communities like Wabasha, Lake City, and Plainview, MN.
